**PCF Density** (Pounds per Cubic Foot) is the measurement of a shipment's weight relative to the volume it occupies, used as the primary metric for LTL freight class determination.
LTL Shipment Density Classing
Freight classes are inversely proportional to PCF density: heavier, dense items (like steel castings) resolve to lower classes (Class 50), whereas light, bulky items (like ping-pong balls) resolve to high classes (Class 500).
